My first model, a bride, called me in February 2024. Initially, I tried to decline her photoshoot request because I wasn’t a professional photographer. Khrystyna said she trusted me completely, and I decided to give it a try. I was as nervous as before an exam, waiting for my couple at their wedding registry photoshoot in March. Thoughts raced through my mind: if the couple didn’t like the photos, they would still have time to find another photographer by summer. But they loved them :).
Khrystyna was a bit late because the taxi driver taking her to the most important event of her life was mobilized on the way. While waiting for the bride, I got to know the groom and his family. It’s so valuable to connect with the people you photograph. It significantly affects the quality of the shots.
Before the photoshoot, I searched for many references on Pinterest. I showed photos on my phone. Khrystyna and Oleh tried to recreate the ideas. Of course, the photos turned out completely different—unique to us. We simply enjoyed our time together, and the camera preserved those moments for us.
From this shoot, I gained experience in framing and directing. Posing models is essential. It's not enough just to shoot candid photos as I have been doing for over a decade for myself. You need to find something for their hands to do so they don’t hang idly, ensure everyone is visible, and make sure they’re all in focus. And later during editing, no matter how much you try, group photos often need the “face swap” technique to combine the best expressions from different shots. It’s time-consuming, but I always do it. This photo story now lives in a beautifully designed album for the couple and their parents.
After this event, I upgraded from an APS-C sensor camera to a full-frame one. Now I always have a backup camera for unforeseen circumstances. My previous Sony model provides peace of mind and confidence. The Sony 24-240 lens isn’t very bright, but I wanted that range of options while searching for my ideal focal length in a prime lens. And I’m happy with this choice under good lighting conditions.

Весілля Христини і Олега для мене особливе. Коли мені подзвонила моя майбутня перша модель-наречена в лютому 2024-го, я спробувала відмовитись, бо не займалась фотографією професійно. Христина сказала, що повністю довіряє мені, і я вирішила спробувати. Хвилювалась, як перед екзаменом, коли чекала своїх молодят на фотосесію розпису у березні. В думках крутились думки, що у випадку, якщо фотографії молодятам не сподобаються, до літа у них буде час знайти когось іншого. Але їм все сподобалось :). Христина трошки запізнилась, бо таксиста, який її віз на важливу подію в житті, дорогою мобілізували. Час очікування нареченої я витратила на знайомство з нареченим і його родиною. Дуже цінно спілкуватись з людьми, яких фотографуєш. Це суттєво впливає на якість отриманих кадрів.

А потім під час обробки, як би не старався, все одно групове фото рятує техніка "пересадки обличчя" з найвдалішого кадру. Це довго, але постійно це роблю. Ця фотоісторія тепер живе у дизайнерській книзі для молодят і батьків.
